Description :
A museum dedicated to deer from around the world!**L’Odyssée du Cerf** is an educational and cultural space focused on the biodiversity of deer species worldwide. Located in Bains-sur-Oust, just 5 km from Redon, the Deer Conservatory is open to all nature lovers and enthusiasts.
L’Odyssée du Cerf will take you on a journey where visitors can learn to distinguish between roe deer and does that inhabit our forests, as well as explore the diverse biodiversity of deer species from around the world, with over fifty species on display. For those more knowledgeable, the exhibit also delves into themes such as endangered and extinct species, invasive species, and the threats posed by human interactions and manipulations on wildlife.
A life-sized reconstruction of the Megaloceros, the largest deer species that disappeared 7,500 years ago, will guide you through the artistic and symbolic traditions since the dawn of humanity, leading up to the urgent issues our planet faces today: biodiversity loss, environmental and climatic changes.
Marc Colyn, a doctor of sciences and retired from national scientific bodies, decided to continue his mission of communication and knowledge dissemination. The Odyssée du Cerf houses an exceptional scientific collection, unique in Europe, once gathered for research purposes and now shared with a diverse audience.
