Towpaths, no cars, no hills !

Canals are often associated with flat lands, but here in Brittany, that is far from true ! The 400 million year old Massif Armoricain may be getting on a bit but it still has plenty of hills and valleys, rocky slopes and different types of ridges.

However, the canal uses river valleys wherever possible, with the result that the towpaths which run alongside are flat while the surrounding scenery is hilly ! The landscape includes valleys bordered by cliffs and hills covered with chestnut and pine trees.
Our motto : walk along towpaths - a treat for the eyes and for the legs too !

Ideal for Trans-European travellers, pushchairs, wheelchairs, cyclists, hikers, (everyone, in fact!) …
