The history of The Bray Manor
Bray is an extremely old seigniory (Lord’s domain) in the parish of Sixt, in the Redon district and once belonged to the diocese of Vannes.
This parish was of great importance during the 9th and the 11th centuries. Its head was a Mactiern (Count) who came directly and uniquely under the Duke of Brittany.
The Bray seigniory covered all ranks of justiceships.
The edifice and its neighbouring heritage
The Bray manor in all probability dates from the 15th century and was most certainly built by Guillaume Le Berruyer de Bray. Its structure is that of all Breton manors dating from this era. The Bray lords descended from royal blood.
In the square-shaped court one can see an ancient sheep pen, an old bread oven and a well which once supplied the manor and its outbuildings with water.
