An island in the town
Redon's old harbour area is like an island, with its little bridges, its locks and gangways linking it to the town. The historical quarters with its 17 th century salt cellars, elegant 18 th century ship owners' houses, the "Château du Mail" and the Richelieu tower today are witness to how all this once contributed to Redon's development.
Crossroads of Breton canals
Water is everywhere. To the left, the Vilaine river with its old quays. To the right, the Nantes-Brest canal which crosses with the Vilaine with a set of double locks. At the end, a large 19 th century inland dock.
